Introduction to Zcash
Zcash (ZEC) is a cryptocurrency renown for its advanced privacy features. Launched in 2016 by tech-industry veteran Zooko Wilcox-O'Hearn, Zcash offers users the ability to transact with enhanced confidentiality through its innovative zero-knowledge proof protocol, zk-SNARKs.
Zcash offers users the ability to make shielded transactions where the sender, receiver, and amount transferred are all hidden. However, unlike Monero, it also allows for publicly visible transactions, therefore ensuring it can more easily meet regulatory compliance standards where required. For this reason, it remains listed on major platforms such as Binance and Coinbase.
